Our Base Camp

live for a week

in one of Andalucía’s

iconic villages

Molino del Carmen, Gaucín

Gaucín is our home base for epic rides in every direction. It sits at a crossroads on a mountain ridge between two of Spain’s major rivers and nature reserves.

At the heart of the town is Molino del Carmen, an olive oil mill converted into a chic villa. Views from the house stretch to Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, and north Africa. Recover by the pool as the sun sets over the mountains, and enjoy private chef meals around a communal table as we soak up the vibe.

Stroll the winding streets and get the feel of life in an ancient town that has seen empires rise and fall. This is your chance to conquer mountains and live for a week in one of Andalucía’s iconic villages.

Where You’ll Ride

From the Mediterranean coast to the dramatic town of Ronda, come challenge your legs on Spain’s mountain roads. Our six unique routes wind among river valleys, national parks, limestone peaks, and lush forests. We will stop for coffee and lunch in charming towns, and shoot down to the beach for seaside snacks.

The WILD MOUNTAINS of Andalucía

About Our Routes

  • The sun sets super late in June, so we’ll have time to test our bikes and legs on a little shakeout ride to the valley overlook at the castle ruins in Benadalid.

    A — 17 miles // 2,061 ft.

  • Our first ride is an out-and-back dash to the Mediterranean. We stop in San Luis de Sabinillas for coffee at a chiringuito (beachfront grill) before climbing our way home. We refuel in Casares for the main climb of the day.

    A — 42 miles // 5,671 ft.

  • Ride 2 starts with a big descent then crosses the Guadiaro River valley before a climb to lunch in the walled castle town of Castellar Viejo de la Frontera, one of the prettiest villages in Spain. Coffee in San Pablo de Buceite fuels us for final grind back to Gaucín.

    A — 64 miles // 5,121 ft.
    B — 53 miles // 3,967 ft.

  • Ride 3 takes a twisty route to neighboring El Colmenar. We ride the ridge above the Genal River valley before turning toward the Sierra de Grazalema mountains. After coffee in Cortes de la Frontera, we ride 11 miles through quiet forests in Los Alcornocales park.

    A — 43 miles // 5,175 ft.

  • Coming off our rest day we tackle the Queen Stage, a challenging out and back to Benaocaz. We pause by the bullring at the Ubrique overlook before climbing to lunch above the valley. A coffee stop in Cortes de la Frontera powers us up the final climb.

    A — 68 miles // 8,088 ft.
    B — 46 miles // 5,285 ft.

  • Our final ride aims for Ronda, the dramatic clifftop town at the heart of Andalucía. This day is peppered with Cat. 4 and Cat. 3 climbs. The return journey follows the Guadiaro River along a nature preserve before kicking across the valley and up the other side.

    A — 54 miles // 6,366 ft.
    B — 46 miles // 5,380 ft.

Rest Day Beach Trip

We’ll take a break from cycling for a trip to Marbella. On the way there we can dip in an ancient Roman bath where Julius Caesar enjoyed the healing properties of the mineral-rich spring water. In town we will hit the beach, get coffee on the promenade, and explore the old city. We’ll eat organic dinner with a flamenco performance at The Farm restaurant before heading back home.

A private chef will prepare breakfasts and dinners that combine performance nutrition with the flavors of southern Spain. Our meals support recovery with local and seasonal ingredients. We nourish the body, celebrate the region’s vibrant culinary traditions, and trade stories around a communal table.
